I was appointed to Poole Hospital and Bournemouth Hospital in 2000 as a general orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in lower limb, foot, ankle and trauma surgery.
Having graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1986 I completed my basic surgical training through the Royal Army Medical Corps during a 5 year short service commission in the army. After leaving the army I completed my higher specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in the Yorkshire rotation.
During training I carried out his sub-speciality fellowship training in complex trauma and limb reconstruction surgery in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield under the supervision of Professor Michael Saleh. The Northern General Hospital has an internationally recognised limb reconstruction department. I gained experience in correction of deformities of the lower limbs, lengthening of lower limbs and correction of complex foot and ankle deformities. I also trained with a number of specialist foot and ankle surgeons in the Yorkshire region.
My current practice, as well as foot and ankle surgery, includes hip and knee surgery including hip replacement, knee replacement, knee arthroscopy as well as all complex trauma problems in both lower and upper limbs. I have also developed further specialist skills to perform minimally invasive bunion and other foot surgery.
